Kellie  portrays the little mermaid who never seemed to fit in and dreamed of being part of their world. Instead of sacrificing her voice to become one of them, she instead realized that she could stand on her own two feet and embraced her unique beauty.

"Whoever said high school was the best time of your life lied...when you're a quirky, artsy, dramatic kid it's quite the opposite.

I was a pale, red-headed, freckled kid. I thought I was adopted until I was ten because I didn't look like anyone in my family.

About that same age is when trouble started at school. Let's face it, kids can be mean - especially girls. When you live in a small town and you're a little weird you never stand a chance with the popular kids. It also doesn't help when you're quiet and shy - you become an easy target. Being "picked on" lasted all through high school and I couldn't wait to graduate and get out of that small town.

I spent years feeling I wasn't good enough with low self-esteem. My story will show how a shy, weird, artsy kid that never quite fit in can go on to be a strong, independent, funny adult that enjoys life...quirks and all." -Kellie
